Smarc@Embeded appliance

SMARC Appliance -
Take Vision Inspection Systems as an example.

SMARC (Smart Mobility ARChitecture) is a versatile small form factor computer module targeting applications that require low power, low costs, and high display/ connection performance.

Low Power

High Performance

Low Cost

The 314 pins of the SMARC 2.1 connector support more options on PCI Express lanes, two extra MIPI CSI interfaces, and additional GPIOs that makes SMARC design comes along with a rich choice of graphics, camera, sound, network, and optional wireless interfaces. This allows SMARC to pursue more powerful multimedia applications and is more suitable for digital electronic signage, industrial thin, compact appliances, and HMIs.

The benefits of SMARC Design

  • Energy-saving SoC processors based on ARM as well as x86processor technologies
  • Extensive video interface options
  • Additional GPIOs from 12 to 14pins
  • Up to 4x Gigabit Ethernet
  • Up to 4 MIPI CSI cameras for vision applications
  • Wireless technologies

Case Study- Vision Inspection Systems

The high-speed and high-precision optical image inspection system uses machine vision as the inspection standard technology. The image-processing inspection system includes a host, camera, lens, light source, etc. The camera is used to shoot the object, and the image is analyzed as a two-dimensional plane, and inspections are completed in an instant. This machine vision inspection has improved the shortcomings of traditionally using optical instruments for human inspection. The application includes research and development of high-tech industries, manufacturing quality control, as well as national defense, medical care, environmental protection, electric power…etc.v

In the field of industrial automation nowadays, the application with wireless networks makes the machine vision system face more design challenges, especially the loss of high-frequency signals, transmission speed, module integration, system stability, and power consumption. Therefore, the low power consumption and highly integrated SMARC Module provide the best solution for applications in this field. With the advantage of SMARC size, the Vision Inspection Systems can be miniaturized and provides more MIPI CSI/USB and DI/DO quantities to support the usage of devices such as cameras, light sources, etc. The SMARC-modular system can quickly integrate and develop on existing platforms in response to rapid changes in factory automation requirements and can detect the appearance defects such as scars, and dirt of the object at various production sites.
